Edited to make it just a regular blank book that looks like the one he used to carry! ^^ So it's just triggering the memory and slight power change through familiarity, not actually being the journal in question.

It now reads like this:

"Lyall was browsing at a used bookstore in town a few days before game opening and stumbled upon a small, blank diary bound in blue leather. Though Lyall was not really one for journaling, it seemed oddly familiar; he could actually remember holding a book much like this with some odd sadness, and even remembered a name, “Sandy”. Perplexed, he bought it and, for no reason he can imagine, prefers to keep it on his person. Ever since, however, sunlight feels strange on his skin and smells all seem a little sharper."
