Echo Requests (retired)



Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Character: John Smith/the Doctor
Reason for Echo: Getting mortally wounded and thus dying. It won't happen until the farmhouse infiltration and alien fighting, but I figured I'd get this approved beforehand so I can be certain I can make it happen and thus plan accordingly.
Type and tier: Ability, tier 1.
What is returned: Regeneration. As a result, John will change physical appearance and personality. Thus, according to what's been discussed I've written up a little blur of the new personality.



We've had the bumbly, awkward, sweet and cheerful John Smith, who rarely ever got even annoyed and even less so angry. Now, that's changing.

After regeneration, he'll turn from bumbly and awkward to smooth and calm. Into a man who has a different sort of wit and way with words, and carries himself with another air entirely. And not only because he'll be a head taller. From cosmic hobo to fancypants.

Regeneration is like a direct response to the previous self. Since John was a happy man with a lot of tolerance and patience, willing to discuss matters that had to do with life and death with calm and an attempt at understanding opposing views, regeneration will leave him with a lot else of that. He'll be a more no-nonsense man who, while willing to change his views if presented with good enough reasons, will be more than happy to let people know just how stupid he might think they're being at any given moment. Instead of someone whose default state is similar to that of an excited child, he'll instead opt for being more on edge and have a harder shell that others will have to work to budge and get through.

Doesn't mean he won't have the ability to play and mock and relax. It'll just take a little bit more work. His fond teasing and playful jabs will have a dryer edge to them. With all of that he'll more often than not come off as a grumpy man with a stiff upper lip.

Whereas he used to be a man pleased to let others take the lead and make the decisions, and preferred keeping his head down and simply doing what others told him to, he'll become a more proactive man. Someone comfortable in a leader position - someone who would prefer it, even. From someone who mostly looked at what others were planning and said "aye" if he liked it and sometimes, sometimes not, protested if he didn't, he'll be more actively thinking and making his own suggestions than he used to be. Also more likely to protest ideas he doesn't approve of.

In comparison to the surgeon who settled and was content with settling, he'll prefer to travel. He won't have the extreme wanderlust of the preincarnation, but he won't feel like a fish out of water if he ends up being on the move a lot.

Of course, at the very core he'll still be same. Still the man who chose to be a surgeon because he wanted to help people. Still a loving father (if he gets that chance - having a new face will complicate things a little bit). Still a bookworm who prefers books over people. Still someone who really just wants to do the right thing and who thinks the less people hurt the better. A scientist and an intellectual. Just one who shows his age more.

What is returned: Fire and the loss of a homeland echoes the destruction of Gondolin. Gabriel will remember facing the sunrise and songs of celebration and then fire and the songs turning to screams.

What is returned: Again, nothing physical for Aradia herself, but since it's the first time she's seen someone using it, just the general knowledge of what the hell a strife specibus is. ...Which is basically a card thing that holds your weapon type, and is sort of a separate captchalogue thing than the usual kind.
