Echo Requests (retired)

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Player: Joysweeper
Character: Julien/Yuuya!
Reason for Echo: Canon recurrence. Julien's left the game area to attend a wedding and will be back in a few days, regaining everything then. He'll then realize there's a pretty painless way to not be a part of this whole confusing mess - he could just leave - and that will be a quandary. Eventually he'll decide to stay.

The option to unnaturally forget something that's painful to him came up in canon. Yuuya rejected it instantly, treating it as a huge deal when pressed. He can't change the past or his actions in it, and the least he can do is remember. Even though that gives him pain, that pain is part of him. He chooses to remember, always. (sorry, Yuuya, you'll remember again one day. But not yet.)
What is returned: A pigeon heart. ...Scaled up to fit his body, so he doesn't die. And I guess relevant vein and artery alterations so different pressures and so on don't cause complicated medical issues.

Proportionally a pigeon's heart is more than twice the mass of a human's, more muscular, designed somewhat differently. It's more efficient, pumping more blood per beat, and it's slower at a resting rate, but better at beating faster for a long period of time.

...not gonna have much effect on Julien for now, have to say. It'd help him be a better athlete, especially combined with bird lungs, but he's not exactly called upon to be an athlete, so far. I'm building up cumulative stuff.

Well, basically the changes are there to ensure that he will always be able to act as Fay's food source since he is the only one the vampire can feed from. And since Fay will now live much longer than an ordinary human, Youou's life will be drawn out to match his.

Healing wise minor cuts will heal within a couple of minutes or so after blood is no longer being drawn. His blood will also replenish at an accelerated rate to make up for Fay snacking on it. On the downside his blood's ability to clot will decrease with the transformation for the same reason.

Most major injuries will also heal a bit faster than before but more on the lines of the doctors being happy that he is recovering so well, but not so much that they would be surprised by the progress. With the exception of blood loss where the healing process will be more accelerated since, again, Fai needs to be able to get his daily meal.

As for the immune system thing, I wouldn't say it would be absolutely impossible for him to get sick but it would take quite a bit since that would also affect his ability as Fay's "Game" (which I just realized is the official translation orz).

Most of these changes can happen gradually if that would be better, but the healing of minor cuts as well as being able to replenish his blood probably needs to be a bit more immediate, since it's going to be very much needed right away.

Sure. There's a joke he makes twice - someone tells him something, and he says he'll "carve it into my pigeon heart" or "carry it in my pigeon heart" and therefore remember it forever.

Too injokey?

Player: Krystal
Character: Aragorn
Reason for Echo: Posting to the forum
What is returned: A paperweight palantir. Specifically, the one from Orthanc. It doesn't work -- it's just a really heavy, rather pretty globe.

Possibly I should request Echoes when I sign up for Echo-granting things, yes?

Player: Kd7sov
Character: Felix/Fred Vandenberg
Reason for Echo: Vermedi sighting
What is returned: Low-level sword skills; I'm thinking roughly equivalent to what he has at the beginning of his part of canon, when he's level 5, but there's nothing to really compare with real-world stuff and I'm willing to be flexible.

Reason for Echo: Meeting the Sage of Earth (whenever that happens)
What is returned: Spire Psynergy, aka "drop a rock on it". I'm willing to tone it down from the man-sized stalactite presented in the canonical animation, just say how much.

Character: Dawn Summers/Dahlia Silver
Reason for Echo: Statue exhibit! Just re-read the info. She'll go for the two touches, since the original info post says that the touch and hanging around don't stack. Which makes her second Echo that much more perfect. Take the risk? Pay the price. xD
What is returned:
1 a memory: feelings of hopelessness/despair and laying on train tracks to die, so that she would be loved and remembered after death (from the episode Him;
2 physical: a broken left arm (from the episode Wrecked; it seems a bit random, but I think it would be effective because a, she was already hesitant to seek out more of these 'Extras', and b, it'll make her that much more determined to figure out what the jfkaldf is going on)

Player: Airdra
Character: Hajime Aikawa
Reason for Echo: He and Alata will be encountering a Vermedi on the 28th.
What is returned: Undead senses/reflexes. I'm listing them together because all the enhanced senses do is allow him to react to things more quickly than a human would. There's no super-vision or super-hearing or anything like that; just better reaction time. For a canon example of the level of reaction time/these senses are awesome I'm thinking of, at one point, someone throws an octopus at the back of his head and he's able to catch it without looking up because he sensed the attack from behind (helps that he was being yelled at at the time). He's not infallible, and it's still quite possible to land a hit on him.

Fair enough, though I was thinking of something physical to show for it.

Instead, the memory of the banishing spell from Conversations with Dead People? With maybe the phantom sensations of something fighting against her (the 'spirit' she's banishing scratches her face, throws her around a bit, and bloodies her mouth). She wouldn't have the actual physical injuries, but the feeling of them with the memory.

Julien decides to stay instead of trying to leave and forget. This is similar to Yuuya declaring that instead of forgetting he will remember something forever. At other times Yuuya says he will remember something forever by keeping it in his "pigeon heart".

If that's too convoluted, I'll submit the memory of rejecting the option to forget, instead.

Player: Olga
Character: Kratos Aurion
Reason for Echo: Vermedi sighting on the 24th
What is returned: The memory of eating Raine's cooking (from a z-skit). In it, he tries a bit of her food, comments that "it's...flavorful and...has a remarkable texture. I've never eaten anything like this before." and then has to cast First Aid on himself because it's so foul. The memory will leave Karl feeling slightly sick to his stomach afterwards.

Player: Andyouwin
Character: Kallie
Reason for Echo: Mulling over the fact that people's Echoes often come from the things trying to kill them, during the conversation here.
What is returned: The memory of a very similar situation, conversation, and state of confusion. From here until everyone starts to wander off.
