because it's about time sob

Player: Enzel
Character: Emmanuel (Castiel)

Reason for Echo: Julien confiding in him that the Apostle made a terrible sacrifice to save his brother.
Type and tier: Memory/tier 1
What is returned: The memory of this scene. Castiel tells Dean that if he pledges himself to the angels, Sam doesn't have to have the responsibility of stopping the apocalypse.

Reason for Echo: Seeing the lights
Type and tier: Memory/tier 1
What is returned: A memory of being in the mental hospital with Meg looking after him. This is disjointed, since he was hallucinating almost constantly. There is a woman in scrubs with dark hair and a hideously disfigured face, but he feels safe with her because she looks after him. Also, there's a tall blonde man who he's completely terrified of, who seems to take delight in that fact. Add a hefty dose of guilt and (hallucinated, though it seems real) pain that doesn't seem to come from any particular source.

Reason for Echo: Investigating the buzzing sound
Type and tier: Ability/memory Tier 2
What is returned: His ability to hear ultrasonic frequencies. Canonically, angels are actually extremely high-frequency wavelengths and communicate across them, and can can technically tune into radio and other lower frequencies. In Episode 8.08 Castiel specifically does this to listen in on police radio.

Theoretically what I'd like to happen is this: it takes him about a week to learn how to shut it off at will, and in the meantime, all the sounds he hears will be too jumbled to sort through or make out. Lots of headaches, disorientation, dizziness, etc. After that he can start figuring out how to use it with more precision, but it'll take a month or two, and he won't be able to do much more than tune into, say, the news. Or, if he's allowed to tune into police scanners for some kind of plot reason, it'll only be brief and fragmented. (after all, trying to sort through thousands of frequencies worth of information with a human brain? near impossible. If this comes up, I'll make a request about what kind of information he can overhear, if anything at all.)

The memory returned with the hearing will be the memory of him attempting to speak to Dean after raising him from Hell, and breaking a lot of windows. (episode 4.01)
