I feel like my echoes are always extremely specific and detailed i'm sorry you have to read this
Player: The Guindo Character: Russel Goldman/Raiel Reason for Echo: The first time he plays Appearance of the Firebird on piano/keyboard. Sometime in the future, idk when, I wanted to get the echo approved before I started planning for it. Type and tier: Tier 1. It's sort of halfway between an ability and an animal companion. What is returned: Firebird. See icon.
OKAY SO FIRST UP A DISCLAIMER I was looking over my app and I realized I forgot to specify that Raiel using The Infernal Dance as Firebird's summon theme is actually headcanon. The manga never specifies which part of the Firebird Suite he uses, and it's a 40+ minute ballet, sooo... I've always assumed he could do it with any song from the suite but headcanoned that he usually does it with The Infernal Dance. I CAN EDIT MY APP TO REFLECT THIS I've just taken it as a given for so long that I completely forgot to note it as headcanon.
I chose Appearance of the Firebird instead of The Infernal Dance for Firebird's first appearance in STE because it feels more thematically appropriate. also comedy option
ANYWAY. Firebird is a fire spirit, summoned by Raiel when he plays the Firebird Suite on piano. This is what it looks like. It has no specific powers outside of being a huge bird made of fire. It flies and it tears shit up and it sets things on fire by getting too close, THAT'S ABOUT IT.
Raiel is able to communicate with it (it never actually talks but he acts like it does), and there are sometimes extended joke sequences about the way it and Raiel treat each other. This is why I say it's half ability, half animal companion; they're pretty much BFFs, but Firebird is only around whenever it's summoned.
Points of note: 1) Russel does not have the ability to hear Raiel's summons yet, so no communicating with it for now 2) Firebird will be immediately unsummoned as soon as Russel stops playing; he is completely tone deaf and can't keep the music in his head well enough to keep the spirits around
