Remember that Echoes not induced by plot events "remind" characters of what they'll receive from they're past life - if this would be the first time Karl has encountered Lloyd, than most any Echo of Kratos and Lloyd ought to be acceptable; if not, then he would need to "remember" their past selves doing something similar to what they are doing when the Echo is induced.
