Also, during the last few episodes Barnaby has all of his memories of Kotetsu edited or removed, altering his personality to the point where he's willing to KILL Kotetsu; hearing the nickname is enough to undo the changes and restore his memory. It's canonically very powerful in how much it means to him and how deeply he associates it with Kotetsu.
