Characters' appearances do not need to match their originals' entirely, and so characters can be and have been apped as reincarnated a different race than their past selves'.

Likewise, there is no rule preventing a character from being apped as the opposite sex, but we may question individual cases on grounds of justification (we will request a note of why the player is interested in trying their character with a reincarnation of the opposite sex) or if we feel that it's not handled with respect.
