Hey-ho, Ken - Lily and Neil's player - here. So here's a fun question or two.
I'm planning on apping Nanoha Takamachi from the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise. I know at least one other is planning on apping a different character from the same franchise. Either way, we both run into the same dilemma: the Cartridge System. This is a system implemented into the majority of the standard weapons of the series, the Mages' Intelligent Devices, from the second season onward. They're basically rifle shells that pump out super condensed magical energy instead of bullets.
A problem that Nanoha will reach once she becomes combat ready however is replenishment. Because lets be frank, having to echo back a magazine of shells every battle or two would get old and tedious very, very quickly and would be detrimental towards the character in a not-fun way. The only time we've seen the creation of Cartridges is in the second season, when a member of the then-antagonists was seen imbuing shells with magical energy.
Fast forward to the third season and jump ahead ten years chronologically, and Nanoha is a Captain for an interdimensional military force, and more importantly, an instructor versed in basically everything there is to know about being a combat Mage.
I'm not sure how far headcanon can reach so far as what a character is capable of, but would it be at all reasonable to make what I think is a logical leap in that Nanoha might be aware of the principle and practice of Cartridge creation as a means of keeping her (and potential other canon mates) functional?
SECOND QUESTION: Perhaps easier. Lyrical Nanoha is a large franchise, and while there are several off shoot things (movies, various manga, video games) there are other things outside the main TV series (audio dramas, MORE manga) that either could be considered canon in relation to the main series or left by the wayside. Is there a preferred means of approaching such a situation?
