Echo Requests (retired)

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

drama8om8: ('Cause I 8n't your Mister Nice Guy)

[personal profile] drama8om8 2013-07-11 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Louise
Character: Vriska/Octavia Serket
Reason for Echo: Blues' post, in which he engages in eye-loss shenanigans and starts writing in his own blood.
What is returned: Vriska experiences an extremely similar situation in canon (ignore the characters that aren't her on that page - this is a flashback, of sorts, and they weren't really there). She loses an eye and an arm, then proceeds to write "8r8k" ("break") all over her walls in her own blood. As you do. I'd like her to remember this, and if possible for her to receive her defaced FLARP book as well.

Sob I feel like I'm echospamming BUT ALL OF HER ECHOES SO FAR ARE ENTIRELY USELESS SO I ASSUME IT'S OKAY? sob
playerspooker: (Huh. Is that in the rules?)

[personal profile] playerspooker 2013-07-11 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Wingus
Character: Lina Inverse/Linda Ortiz
Reason for Echo: The implications of Blues' new eyes coming in is a rather grim reminder of an important person.
What is returned: Memories of a fellow known as Rezo the Red Priest - a blind man and powerful magic-user who did an immense number of foul deeds to attempt to cure his own blindness. What Lina will remember specifically is his name, his blindness, that he did vague terrible things to try and cure himself, that his eyes were host to a fragment of Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu (A name that was given in her first echo), and the visual of seeing Shabranigdu revive and consume Rezo. (Fair warning for a bit of body horror regarding the transformation in that second link.)
happybirthdaytoyou: (headshot)

Because I have a terrible fondness for pairing Eugene's echoes with Mort's

[personal profile] happybirthdaytoyou 2013-07-12 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Bii
Character: Eugene Yokugawa/Kosei Kougami
Reason for Echo: Seeing the hawk candroid and hearing Shuji's voice
What is returned: The sense that this guy with the hawk robot works for him (somehow) and is INCREDIBLY CENTRAL to his plans, not that he actually knows what said plans are, oops.
wannabered: (The Moe Moe Z-Cune costs HOW MUCH?)

[personal profile] wannabered 2013-07-12 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Levon
Character: Thomas Akagi/Nobuo Akagi
Reason for Echo: Hearing the Tensouder in conjunction with having already met Al
What is returned: Thomas' memories of the 34th Sentai, Tensou Sentai Goseiger and it's season, but not the memory of when he fought with GoseiRed in his series.

Might as well just stick this here instead of makin' a new thread

Player: The Guindo
Character: Ravindra Savarna
Reason for Echo: Alex's Semi-Secret Plot stuff, Ravi will be with him when it happens
What is returned: Alm's blessing.

WHAT DOES THAT ENTAIL, not a whole lot at this point tbh, but this is the basis for the majority of his future ability echoes. The blessing itself means little without the training to use it. He'll smell/feel holy or like magic to anything/one that can sense that sort of thing, and he will physically feel the blessing as a warmth/light/something in his chest (what Templars refer to as their "center").

He may be able to figure out on his own how to reach into his center and draw magic out, but he will not be able to do anything with it yet because he has no clue how to weave the raw power into actual magic. That's not knowledge I will let him stumble upon by accident, so any attempts to cast spells will just fizzle and dissipate the raw magical energy into the air. He's basically got a battery with no idea how to hook it up to anything.

I will say it's not the full extent of his magical capability, either. So when he does get spells as echoes, their effectiveness will be limited by the strength of his center. Right now, he's as effective as a fresh-out-of-training Templar (ie not very). Ideally future Echoes will improve his magical capability, but I'll be sure to lay out limitations and etc when I request the relevant Echoes.

ONE LAST THING: he will lose this blessing if he ever murders a sapient being (justified kills like self-defense don't qualify as murder). But he doesn't remember this part yet. THIS PROBABLY WON'T COME UP BUT JUST IN CASE.

Additionally--

Player: Mini
Character: Alexander Varista
Reason for Echo: Vermini swarm (7/11 - 19, exact day tbd)
What is returned: Partial vampire physiology. This will include: his heart stopping (cardiac arrest) and a dietary need for blood.

Secondary effects that happen because of the first two: his temperature drops and he gradually becomes paler. His blood will temporarily sustain him. When the volume drops to a low level, he'll start getting 'thirsty.' (So basically he's like a newly hatched chick........)

He is not technically clinically dead because he still needs to breathe. (But he's halfway there, baby!)
darkremnant: (Listening.)

[personal profile] darkremnant 2013-07-12 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Tru
Character: Vanitas
Reason for Echo: Seeing the swarm in this log.
What is returned: His levitation will slowly return. Nothing too major. Just some lack of gravity issues. Will start off as floating a few inches off the ground to sometimes waking up on the ceiling in the morning until he gets it under control.
depolarized: (blood in my teeth)

[personal profile] depolarized 2013-07-12 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Myth
Character: Riku
Reason for Echo: Seeing a Vermini Swarm for the plot event!
What is returned:
Flowmotion Ability

Flowmotion [...] appears in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. It allows Sora and Riku to traverse their surrounding environments with great ease when they interact with certain environmental elements. Using Flowmotion, Sora and Riku can jump off of walls, grind rails, leap great heights, and dynamically attack opponents. When Sora and Riku use Flowmotion, they are enveloped in a violet aura, and they are sometimes accompanied by two orbiting lights of the same color, that trail light behind them.

So, basically, flashy parkour, which character already does to an extent. xD; When activated (with the unfortunate aura), I think this would come as general physical flexibility and weightlessness when he uses surrounding objects for a boost-- e.g. kicks off the wall or a rail and goes up much higher than what would be normally possible, is able to instinctively swing around a pole smoothly horizontally, etc. At the start he probably wouldn't be able to control it at will. As time goes on and he gets used to it/trains it, he would be able to use the ability to gain momentum in order to attack opponents with the keyblade. That he still doesn't know he has until the log for the Swarm. xD;

Kindly let me know if any issues!

[personal profile] idiotwagon 2013-07-12 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Lavvy
Character: Jack Valenti/Spades Slick
Reason for Echo: Vermini swaaaaaarm
What is returned:
A faint urge to stab people at even the slightest faults, along with the feeling that he totally does this all the time even though he obviously doesn't. He won't be uncontrollably shanking everyone left and right, but he'll probably pick up stabbing shit with invisible knives as a weird angry habit.
hollowleg: (hooded)

[personal profile] hollowleg 2013-07-12 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Bat
Character: Shiro [personal profile] hollowleg

Reason for Echo: ATTACK of the BATSQUITO. Which sounds like the newest Syfy original movie btw.
What is returned: A mouthful of fangs and a predatory attitude. Slowly his humanity slips away~ And yes he's going to eat that batsquito.

Reason for Echo: DnD. Apparently there are monsters in DnD that are JUST LIKE HOLLOWS, re; eat souls and stuff???
What is returned: Knowledge of Hollows (their appearance, their habits, what they are... but not their NAME). Basically he'll get a nasty flashback of a variety of Hollows that Ichigo has faced chowing down on pluses.
originaloddcouple: (Default)

[personal profile] originaloddcouple 2013-07-13 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Nerdman
Character: Isaac and Miria

Reason for Echo: This conversation with Becky.
What is returned: Isaac will recall him and Miria at a museum taking the front door. He won't remember why though. For those curious, the outlaw couple wanted to be sure no one could get in. Yes, you read that right.
espigeonage: (🎇A crack in the armor)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2013-07-13 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Joysweeper
Character: Julien/Yuuya
Reason for Echo: Vermini swarm!
What is returned: Pigeon eyes! This? Is a superpower.

Is this too much at once? I've wanted this ever since I started learning about pigeon eyes.

Thanks!
flamberge: (sagacity -- allow me to ellucidate)

[personal profile] flamberge 2013-07-13 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Olga
Character: Karl Aurion/Kratos Aurion
Reason for Echo: Nearly running his son, though still unknown to him, over on a motorcycle.
What is returned: A memory with Lloyd in it, namely a skit where Kratos gets annoyed by Lloyd's lackluster sense of direction.
boredallready: (KRATOS YOU JERK)

[personal profile] boredallready 2013-07-13 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Kaito
Character: Lloyd Irving
Reason for Echo: Nearly getting run over by his real father (a fact he's not aware of yet) and then confronting him.
What is returned: A memory of this skit.

[personal profile] princenopants 2013-07-14 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Fran
Character: Siegfried/Mytho
Reason for Echo: Taking a class called Discovering Past Life Memories Through Dance and dancing for the first time.
What is returned: Ballet [Mostly muscle memory more than names of any of the steps] Basically in the middle of the hippy dippy free movement class, he'll just on instinct start his ballet warmups and practice routines.]

As a note, if approved, totally want to plaster ads for the class everywhere for people to try thinking it works as advertized ;)
doomedtheworld: (Default)

[personal profile] doomedtheworld 2013-07-14 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Nick
Character: Vanessa/Vin
Reason for Echo: Her upcoming fight with a fungus monster. Requesting preemptively in the interest of saving time when it happens. Steel is her main offensive weapon so just needing a weapon at the time might do it.
What is returned: A degree of her steelpushing ability. At the time she'll only be able to push in one direction and only against a few light objects or one heavier object. So basically it would just be useful as a projectile attack and to clumsily fling her away from things.
talktothedoll: (double the creep factor)

[personal profile] talktothedoll 2013-07-14 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Airdra
Character: Kiyoto Maki/Mort Yokugawa
Reason for Echo: Seeing the bright pulse of pink light on July 15 as part of the event.
What is returned: Tricera Core Medal. It'll be regained inside of Mort, giving him momentary chest pains and such whenever it responds to things. He'll be able to get it out with a later Echo providing that knowledge.

Reason for Echo: A fire breaking out at the Yokugawa family residence as a result of Eugene's involvement in the event. Mort's going to be there in the thick of things, and being in a fire like that will trigger a memory of a major canon event for him.
What is returned: He will remember killing his older sister by starting a house fire. He was a young boy, he had a lit candelabra, and he dropped it on the floor of her bedroom while she was asleep, causing the place to go up in flames. Judging by the way the flames spread, it's not out of the question to suggest he'd used something to encourage things to burn so well, but he won't remember any sort of preparation. He'll remember standing over some woman's bed, throwing the candelabra down, and watching the flames engulf the room. He will also remember picking up that creepy doll he regained, with its hair burning off.
