Echo Requests (retired)

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Character: Kallie / Lightning
Reason for Echo: Getting near the Tuning Tower.
Type and tier: Tier 1, item.
What is returned: A grav-con unit. In Lightning's world, this is an example of a manadrive device, technology that uses something called AMP (Antimatter Manipulation Principle) to simulate effects that would typically be "magic." A grav-con allows its user to defy gravity for short amounts of time - with a snap of the fingers, one is engulfed in a blue staticky field that creates complete weightlessness around their body. In the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, it can be pretty terrifying.

... Too bad Kallie won't know how to use it! The effect will only last about ten seconds anyway, and at this point will be weakened to simply providing some weightlessness / some protection from falls if it's activated in time.

Character: Xander Jarle / Sandrath
Reason for Echo: Ravindra using his healing ability on Xander.
Type and tier: 1, ability
What is returned: Sandrath's healing ability, but it is only able to heal minor wounds.

Reason for Echo: Sam Middleton / Sadao Maou's post stating how he's evil / unholy.
Type and tier: 1, ability
What is returned: Sandrath's vulnerability to 'holy' / 'light', although unaware of it's presence.

Player: Nadia
Character: Miles Edgeworth
Reason for Echo: This comment from Octavia, two of those nicknames happen to be nicknames he had in canon (but one he's already had an echo involving that person)
Type and tier: Memory, tier 1
What is returned: He'll remember his childhood friend, Larry Butz who was the one who called him Edgey all the time. Just a general idea of what he's like, the fact that he always causes trouble and the saying about him that "When something smells, it's usually the Butz."

Player: Louise
Character: Octavia
Reason for Echo: She's going to encounter a snake statue tomorrow!
Type and tier: Tier 1 ability
What is returned: She already has her fairy wings - I'd like her to be able to fly with them, please (she will leave a very visible trail of pixie dust behind her when she flies, so she still can't do it in public areas without risking getting caught. I'm also fine with nerfing it so she can only fly as far and as fast as she'd be able to sprint, if necessary).
waltharius: (alas it was to none but me)

Player: Zae
Character: Walter Price
Reason for Echo: Encountering a snake statue tomorrow
Type and tier: Tier 2, memory/physical
What is returned: The memory of the fight with Dirge/the 10th colossus, AND a chunk of Dormin's essence. Basically this grants him a very very VERY slight stamina increase.

Player: Bri
Character: Nick Burkhardt
Reason for Echo: Snake statue encounter!
Type and tier: Tier 2 | Item and associated ability
What is returned: His kanabo! And with it, his innate ability with weapons. When he has access to a weapon, even one he's never used before, he will find himself able to wield it skillfully. The return of the ability will be slow; it will start out only kicking in when he's actually trying to use a weapon in a life or death situation. Any attempts to use a weapon (aside from a gun, which he learned to use the old fashioned way) for practice or anything outside a life or death situation will prove unsuccessful, even if he has previously wielded it in battle.

(For example, he could use a sword to fight a monster and appear an expert at it, but if he later attempted to spar with the same sword, he would fail quite spectacularly. This will gradually change over time until his ability is fully returned.)

Player: Anduin
Character: Kallie / Lightning
Reason for Echo: She hits and stuns one of the Carneades-affected pigeons at LCU while on her motorcycle. 8| Feeling just bad enough to go back and check on it...
Type and tier: Mental, tier 1.
What is returned: ...she's struck with a powerful desire to help said birds, stemming from a continuing theme in canon- in the first game, the party is given a mission to drive away monsters threatening a group of wild chocobos, and in the upcoming third game, Lightning eventually rescues and then helps a particularly special white chocobo recover as well.

Player: Blue
Character: Anthony

Reason for Echo: The lad's getting out to happen on one of the snake statues if it kills 'im.
Type and tier: Physical - Tier 1.
What is returned: Another degree of zombification - bringing him one Echo-step away from physical death. Vital signs will drop to such a point that he really oughtn't be functioning as he will be under any other or at least natural circumstances, and muscle atrophy's going to leave him with a distinct limping zombie gait among other intuitive debilitations. The point to which it pushes apparent decomposition will be the most jarring effect - it's going to leave patches of his flesh very obviously eaten open, including on his face!

Reason for Echo: Actually laying eyes on the result of the effects of the above Echo if approved, via mirror on returning home. The stage he'll be put at technically entails nothing that the previous one didn't - but the visible extremity of it'll be such to rather efficiently up the factor of grotesqueness and fairness of calling him a zombie, which shall make Anthony the first most definitely essentially a classic zombie that Anthony himself will have ever locked eyes with.
Type and tier: Mental - Tier 1.
What is returned: His "Sanity Meter" proper - canon gives all playable characters a "sanity gauge" of sorts as a stat that drops on doing or experiencing anything deeply unnerving; realizing you've been seen by an enemy-raised zombie depletes some, watching a body-snatcher pop in a squishy haze out of a person's torso depletes a load, and so on. That it does drop as and with the effects it does are interpretable outside of a strictly-gameplay context as a side effect/aftereffect of having laid eyes upon horrors from beyond the veil/such plainly unnatural sights in the first place, differentiation between imagination and what's actually there thrown out of calibration under stress/panic.

Sanity can of course be restored, most effectively by magic (Anthony himself never gained the stat restoration spell) but also in smaller amounts by doing plain old things to relieve stress. Among the other protagonists for example Paul the priest can regain his by meditating and Edward's able to restore his with limited amounts of on-hand booze.
