Echo Requests (retired)
Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.
When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.
As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.
Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Character: Clear
Reason for Echo: Drinking the water
What is returned: His Grand Music; being the capacity to sing at frequencies normally not achieved by human beings. These have an effect on the mind and dampen surrounding noise. An example of this application is neutralizing pain like headaches.
Character: Suzaku Kururugi
Reason for Echo: Drinking the water
What is returned: The memory of the final stage of the Zero Requiem, in which he took on the role of Zero and killed Lelouch. Suzaku will not recall the context, nor why the memory comes with quite a bit of despair.

To begin with, androids like Clear were designed to control people. Clear himself was the prototype and was disposed of due to a “defect” – most likely his capacity for free will. They were intended to “blend into the human lifestyle and permanently manipulate them.” As Toue, the man behind their creation, states: the subsequent models surpass Clear’s capabilities. He was also modified by his grandfather to produce soundwaves the Alphas (later androids of his line) could not process, as a countermeasure.
The way Clear describes Grand Music, it can be used to “dye” the mind of a normal human being. That is, to control or influence them, and they would be none the wiser. He admits that he has this capability to the main character. However, he never uses Grand Music to control anyone and demonstrates no desire to do so.
So I’ll move on to examples of what he does do. There are a few examples of the ways he uses his song. Clear is capable of drowning out surrounding noise, as he does near the end of the True Route. He can also neutralize the effect of Grand Music from other sources, using his song to this effect for Aoba’s sake in his route. As Aoba puts it, "The purity of his singing gives me a calm feeling." With Grand Music he is able to soothe away things like pain and anxiety.
As to limitations, there are a few. One of these is audible proximity, either direct (being nearby) or indirect (through say TV) because it works through one’s sense of hearing. Additionally, although Aoba (not being an average human) is the only example, it can be said that people who are not average would perceive being influenced and their brains would reject heavy-handed attempts at controlling their thoughts. This rejection does not occur with the small things Clear does, as they don’t override will.
For the purposes of this game, I would say all player characters would react the way Aoba does. If there were an attempt to use Grand Music to control them, they would experience violent headaches. Normal NPC humans, however, could be controlled. I discuss this not because Clear would use his power in this way, but in the interest of full disclosure. His usage of this power, either as Pierce or Clear, would remain consistent – soothing others or easing pain. Or, if there’s some horrible sound out there, muting it out with his voice.
I hope this has adequately explained things. I consider Dye Music another matter, and so have only included Grand Music in this…wall of text.

I'm perfectly happy to just get his capacity to soothe/comfort/etc with his singing, if it's fine getting partial capability back. Since he never uses Grand Music to control others anyway, I can put that part off for some later date if that works.
