Echo Requests

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

As of November 2014, Characters who have had their echoes for over a year can cause echoes in other people This is involuntary, cannot be controlled by either character and doesn't require a recurrence. The receiving character must have 15 echoes or less; they must be physically close to the other character; only tier 1 echoes can be caused that way; one cannot give themselves echoes. Both players must, of course, have consented to this oocly. A character can receive echoes through this mechanic no more than 10 times, and only up to 3 times from the same character. If requesting one of these echoes, please indicate the character from which the echo was received.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger, a person or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Reason for Echo: Seeing some of the new lights on TV. It takes a few weeks before actually taking effect.
Type and tier: Physical, Tier 2
What is returned: Essentially completed bird transformation, and more on how to fly - he got the basics when he became a harpy.

This is the bird form. The keel grows out from the ribcage and a huge amount of muscle is anchored to it, the spine becomes rigid, the knees are permanently tucked, the neck changes radically, the eyes become larger, and there are the beak and feathers. So he's huge. Small human aspects remain - a couple fingers on each wing, blue eyes, some of the jaw structure etc. The picture has him stretched up as tall as he can go, it's more comfortable and natural to hold his body less upright. He's much bigger around and somewhat heavier than as a harpy.

This change gives him a lot more muscle and a far, far stronger wingbeat. Swans can break bones with their wings, and he's much bigger than a swan; he could kill or seriously injure someone. His bite or peck are not to be sneezed at either, and his neck is about two and a half feet long, extremely flexible, and very difficult to break. Overall he's tougher and more dangerous (could maybe take a man with a baseball bat -> could take several men with baseball bats)

Stronger wingbeat and a skeleton adapted for flight lead to a better ability to fly. Taking off under his own power, hovering briefly, and climbing to great heights or flying against the wind are now possible. Pigeons are excellent fliers, fast and agile plus able to maintain a rapid pace for hours on end. He could manage to take off carrying as much as... oh, a hundred pounds, but it's a strain and impedes him.

This also makes his eyes much larger, which changes his eyesight a bit. Larger eyes mean a brighter, clearer image and mildly better low-light vision, though he's still not as good at that as a human.

What is returned: This memory, finding the blinded quail hidden away in a hellish pit on the Holiday Star.

Character: Toushirou Hitsugaya
Reason for Echo: Pink light in Finland
Type and tier: Tier 2 - Power/Memory
What is returned: The ability to cast Kyoumon (Mirror Gate), an invisible, high-level barrier spell that deflects outside attacks but is weak on the inside. Also, the memory that he once used it to try and protect a friend.

Character: Toushirou Hitsugaya
Reason for Echo: Pink light at Christmas Island
Type and tier: Tier 2 - Physical/Memory
What is returned: He shrinks to his canon height of 4'4. Merry Christmas, Toushirou. Along with this comes the knowledge that a shinigami's spiritual power levels affect their aging rate, and that as someone of captain level, his aging has slowed to a crawl. Thus he'll be aware that he's going to be his newly tiny self and look like a young kid for a good long while.

Just a short question before I approve this - you write "more on how to fly", is this a knowledge/mental thing?

For a tier 1, you will get "can mesmerize EITHER animals OR humans (including or excluding numbered at your discretion) and they will remember it". To get both animals and humans, or get one and not have them remember it, you'd need a tier two.

Would any of these options work for you?

(Sorry for the delay, I wanted to look for precedence cases first so this took more time than normal echoes and Christmas was rather like a whirlwind this year)

Reason for Echo: Second set of pink lights/Christmas Island
Type and tier: Tier 2, mental/physical. Memory of the fight with Pelagia, the 12th colossus, along with the associated Dormin chunk. Again, more stamina and more paleness/lines. His hair will go completely dark.

What is returned: Knowledge of what goldsickness is and memory of his uncle's behaviour while lost in it during the hobbit - botfa from the time Fili returns to the mountain at the beginning of BOFTA to the point Thorin fights it off and asks them to follow him into battle out.

Reason for Echo: Pink lights over Lapland, viewed in person!
Type and tier: T2 (free): Ability + Memory
What is returned: Winter, as Cure Diamond, is getting back her improved control of ice in the form of being able to make things out of ice - objects, platforms, and so on. She's also getting back a memory of Rikka doing this, when she formed a staircase of ice to descend safely into the inside of what looks like a glacier. Out of nothing, a spiral staircase of opaque ice forms down, and Diamond starts on her way down while calling for Cure Heart. The memory doesn't cover much, since it's a pretty long way down, but it communicates the flow of control needed to refine her ice to that degree.

Type and tier: T2 (free): Memory + Memory
What is returned: The identity of Alice Yotsuba, heiress, friend of Rikka, and civilian identity of Cure Rosetta. Mostly what she looks like and a few base mannerisms - extremely polite, soft-spoken, will of steel, protector above all else. She'll also see a memory of the first time Alice transformed, starting when Heart and Diamond are in trouble against a boombox Selfish, which has wrapped them up in magnetic tape and is using sound waves to stop their communication and break their focus. A pink limo screeches to a stop on a higher part of the plaza the girls are fighting in, quickly letting Alice out, who stands and watches what's going on, before taking an enigmatic pose on the overlook, and holding out a hand to Lance. Winter can't quite catch what's being said - Diamond's ears are ringing and there's some distance between them - but there's a swell of relief to see her there. From there, it turns into the familiar transformation sequence she's already seen, yielding Cure Rosetta as the memory ends.

What is returned: Three more journal entries in the book. These are much clearer about the person being written about being abused, and includes the final entry where the writer says he's going to do something about it, despite being told not to, including the words "I am better at fighting than loving."

Reason for Echo: This log right here where Lyall sees his long-term boyfriend "dead" :3
Type and tier: Mental, tier 2
What is returned: The memory of seeing Alessandro (his former self's long-term boyfriend) dead at the hands (or rather, teeth) of his former Alpha. This cascades into remembering exactly why he disposed of said Alpha, though it comes in pieces as the poor boy is trying to revive Nick.
