Echo Requests

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

As of November 2014, Characters who have had their echoes for over a year can cause echoes in other people This is involuntary, cannot be controlled by either character and doesn't require a recurrence. The receiving character must have 15 echoes or less; they must be physically close to the other character; only tier 1 echoes can be caused that way; one cannot give themselves echoes. Both players must, of course, have consented to this oocly. A character can receive echoes through this mechanic no more than 10 times, and only up to 3 times from the same character. If requesting one of these echoes, please indicate the character from which the echo was received.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger, a person or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Reason for Echo: Tokyo Lights
Type and tier: Tier 2, Mental
What is returned: A general hardening of her mental fortitude against the negative effects caused by her time manipulation as well as a better sense of/understanding of her physical location within time. She will be able to stop time more easily now and for longer before it starts to damage her psyche.

"So, how about you become immortal too, Sakuya?

Then we can be together forever." From one of the games. And I don't think she just meant eating the liver of an immortal, but that was an option since Sakuya mentioned she'd rather stay human.

Imperishable Night, extra stage. Though Emi's preincarnation's small size would make turning anyone... difficult. Emi doesn't have that limitation since she's taller.

Player: Joysweeper
Character: Julien
Reason for Echo: Tokyo lights
Type and tier: Tier 1, knowledge
What is returned: A summation of world history from 2068-2188. Sumatra killing most of the world, Carneades ravaging and uplifting birds, the war, the armistice, the treaties and terrorism and continuing conflict, things with less to do with humans like who the prime minister of Japan is and what species are in the process of uplifting and integrating into society…

Character: Julien
Reason for Echo: Being in Japan, surrounded by… people speaking Japanese. Julien's not unfamiliar and can understand a little, but he hasn't been immersed before.
Type and tier: Tier 1, knowledge
What is returned: Fluency in understanding the language. Since he’s already made some attempts to learn to read and speak it he can scrape by.

Character: Nat
Reason for Echo: Almost dying for the first time. Tash got very nearly killed multiple times each month starting when she was thirteen. Within a year of this she became practically nonchalant about it and willing to befriend, trust, and look out for someone who'd, say, grabbed her by the neck and dragged her twenty meters within hours of them doing it.
Type and tier: Tier 1, mental
What is returned: She retains a fear of dying and will still fight to stay alive and in one piece, or to save someone else, but it's no longer distressing or worth lingering on. Convenient non-trauma.

Character: Nat
Reason for Echo: Proximity to Lazarus (permission has been given!)
Type and tier: Tier 1, item
What is returned: oh hey these are the pieces of a lightsaber! They really just need to be assembled with a few crystals in order to work. One is an echo she got earlier.
Character: Nat
Reason for Echo: Proximity to Tony (permission has been given!)
Type and tier: Tier 1, item
What is returned: Starfly One, a truck-sized bright yellow ship designed to be agile and good for short distances only. It may or may not come with repulsorlifts to move with, a push-or-pull tractor beam that can shift as much mass as the ship itself has, and a weak laser.

Character: Nat
Reason for Echo: Proximity to Tony (permission has been given!)
Type and tier: Tier 1, mental
What is returned: Knowing how to assemble or modify a lightsaber. With the right parts she could make more, but that’s for the future.

Character: Nat
Reason for Echo: Running into some of Aaron's army of ghosts! Tash met a ghost Jedi and the wraiths haunting a dead world.
Type and tier: Tier 1, power/ability
What is returned: Affinity for ghosts. She can communicate with them with the help of the Force, and they tend to like her and see her as important - or just not want to kill her, in the more mindless cases. This might extend to Ghost Zone creatures too. suddenly the ghost zone is completely safe for her but not anyone she's with

Character: Nat
Reason for Echo: Tokyo lights
Type and tier: Tier 1, power
What is returned: More psychic-ness. She's more aware of people, especially ones she's formed connections with. Nat may know if they're hurt or seriously upset, more clearly if they're close. If they die she knows, regardless of distance, and may know details.

...up close she may finish their sentences sometimes. This is sort of mind reading but it's basically just their words like half a second before they're said. Often-reused things like greetings, introductions, and sales pitches are easiest and can be done with many people. People she's close to, she might be able to finish sentences they've considered and constructed with care.

Character: Gwyneth
Reason for Echo: Amy's giant robot warehouse. Kuvira's armies have a lot of minimecha, and she has a giant one controlled by metalbending.
Type and tier: Tier 1, power
What is returned: Metalbending, though at the same low level as her Earthbending. Sensing them, it's hard to hurt her with them, able to punch through or tear it apart bare handed.

Character: Gwyneth
Reason for Echo: Tokyo lights
Type and tier: Tier 1, power
What is returned: Stronger earth/metal bending, the ability to pick up and throw things of her element without touching them.

Player: Ken
Character: Saretha Kaiser (Satsuki Kiryuin)

Reason for Echo: Plot: Pink Lights - London
Type and tier: Tier 2, Ability
What is returned: Junketsu's form after being infused with Life Fibers from Senketsu, as well as Ryuko's blood. It looks and acts mostly the same, but puts less stress on the wearer, and gains access to Senketsu's alternate forms. Or the ability to gain access to them, anyway.

Reason for Echo: Plot: Pink Lights - Galapagos Islands
Type and tier: Tier 2, Ability/Ability
What is returned: Junketsu Senpuu - A form of Junketsu that allows for flight. Parts of Junketsu transform, basically turning Saretha into a freaking rocket.
Junketsu Senpuu Zenkan - Junketsu Senpuu with spikes erupting all over the armor.

Both of these forms are ones Satsuki adapted from Senketsu's own alternate forms after wearing him in canon.

Reason for Echo: Plot: Pink Lights - Tokyo
Type and tier: Tier 1, Ability?
What is returned: The ability to speak and understand fluent Japanese.

Reason for Echo: GIANT SNAKE IN SKY

Character: Hajime
Reason for Echo: ALSO GIANT SNAKE IN SKY
Type and tier: Ability, Tier 1
What is returned: The ability to use Wild Chalice's weaponry, including summoning his Wild Card to execute his finishing attack.

Player: MaxSaslsa
Character: Winter Adamas | Rikka Hishikawa
Reason for Echo: Plot: Pink lights over Tokyo
Type and tier: T2: Items + Memory
What is returned: A large wooden crate (coming about to Winter's hip) full of Miracle Bouquet Lights; while we never see the actual Lights en masse in her movie specifically, just about every other appearance has them either in such a crate in a large quantity, or created from thin air as the plot demands because there wasn't budget to show the crate. Miracle Lights, in general, are pink plastic sticks that are about twice the length of an AA battery, and about as wide. The tip is clear plastic, with some kind of decoration; these have a small bouquet of flowers. Wave the Light and wish with all your might to help the heroes that are attempting to save you life and/or world (normally the Precure, but in this setting...), and you can grant a little bit of power through your wishes.

Functionally, the Miracle Bouquet Lights are going to be a way for non-combatants, and civilians, to influence the outcome of the war a tiny little bit. After discussion, the Lights can be used to support anyone, not just the Precure, and since they're not going to see any use until the invasion starts, they have basically infinite reach within the Echo barriers. Think of the Numbered person you're rooting for, and wave the stick. That's it. The Lights don't technically have a cooldown, but in general, they don't give any more power when they're already giving power.

In canon, a whole city's worth (a whole world's worth?) of Lights gives the Cure team of the year new powers, usually a new transformation, and restores their vitality after they've usually been pretty badly beaten up. The votes here for "who to help" are going to be a little more spread out, so the Lights here will mostly supply revitalization of physical and mental energy, and a burst of speed and power for a little bit. The energy is not at all subtle when it's coming in; it's bright pink, and you glow while under its effect. It doesn't last terribly long, but it's generally long enough to make a big difference. Distributing Lights across the barriers is going to be the hard part, of course, but Winter will find a way.

Winter's going to also be getting back a memory of what these are, and what they're used for. That comes from right at the end of the Dokidoki movie, as the girls are largely wiped out, and Mana's about ready to fall but not prepared to give up. (Canon provides that Mana, who is in this mess in the first place to recover her grandmother's wedding dress, gains the shiny new Engage Mode as Cure Heart. But Cure Diamond isn't Cure Heart, actually engaged or not, so I'm not going to ask for that back. But I'd sure take it if I had a shot. /shakes fist at canon) When it seems like they're going to be wiped out, Rikka feels power flowing into all of them, and it's like she can go on again. And then they all give their remaining power to Cure Heart, and she goes straight to her new overpowered solo super mode, and saves the day. Or, at least, that's the assumption - Winter isn't going to see anything past Mana transforming into Cure Heart Engage Mode.

Reason for Echo: Recurrence: automatic reaction when she first is exposed to vacuum. Technically only triggers while she's at least Super Cure Diamond, since that's when she first gets it, but it should function in any transformed state.
Type and tier: T2: Ability + Memory
What is returned: Remember that time Cure Diamond flew through space to save Cure Rosetta from being killed by a tree monster trying to wilt the Earth's flowers? Winter's going to. The team was brought into low orbit by a friend of Alice's, after Alice flew in her spaceworthy fighter jet based under her house to space to stop the monster before it could get away with anything. The monster had her on the ropes, until Rikka and the others showed up to help blast it into oblivion.

Conveniently, Cure Diamond's second-tier form is capable of normal function in space; since Diamond doesn't have any way to propel herself without the wings her special forms grant, being able to survive outside atmosphere doesn't actually mean anything because she'll still die of exposure, hunger, or whatever else results from her inability to return to Earth. So Winter will Echo back Diamond's ability to act normally in space, but it'll only really function while she's Super Cure Diamond (or any higher form), or if she was in that form before being shot out of it. So, uh, maybe it would be better for her to just have it always on in case she falls unconscious. I dunno, whichever seems more reasonable.

Buncha Echoes!

[personal profile] guitar_case_vagabond 2015-04-20 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Nick
Character: Raye Satterfield
Reason for Echo: Possibly getting shunted into space when the space elevator moved!
Type and tier: Tier-1 Ability
What is returned: The ability to survive in space! In canon, Ryuko and Ragyo are both shown to be able to easily survive in the vacuum of space, Ragyo without the support of any Life Fiber garment. Presumably this is because Life Fibers are specifically a space-adapted lifeform so as a hybrid between that and human, Raye should be able to live in space as well.

Player: Nick
Character: Raye Satterfield
Reason for Echo: Lights over Galapagos!
Type and tier: Tier 2. Ability.
What is returned: Full restoration of her Life Fiber powers! This is a little tricky as it won't instantly elevate her to megahuman levels with instant regeneration but what it will do is effectively remove her power "cap." Life Fibers grow stronger as their host is put in mortal danger so basically from this point on, her power will steadily increase the more she fights as will the speed and effectiveness of her regenerative abilities. Extending to reattaching limbs and even repairing or replacing internal organs.

Player: Nick
Character: Senketsu
Reason for Echo: London Lights!
Type and tier: Tier 2. Ability/Memory
What is returned: Unlocking the ability to access his final and most powerful form: Senketsu Kisaragi. This form is immensely powerful and is capable of achieving escape velocity unassisted, however it comes with a terrible price, the knowledge of which will be the second part of this Echo. This form can only be used once as its use will be fatal to him.

Player: Nick
Character: Raye Satterfield
Reason for Echo: Tokyo Lights!
Type and tier: Memory/Physical
What is returned: Fluency in Japanese and also her weird eye spoke thingies. Why? Because I can't think of a better one!

Player: Nick
Character: Raye Satterfield
Reason for Echo: Lights from the moon
Type and tier: Tier 2. Ability.
What is returned: The full power of the Scissor Blades, including their ability to combine into a single weapon and their unnecessarily huge mode. For reference, the robot is holding a battleship in its forward left hand.

Player: Nerdman
Character: Isaac
Reason for Echo: FINALLY using that damn teleporter. Get out more guys.
Type and tier: Ability, tier 1
What is returned: Ability to speak Japanese

Character: Miria
Reason for Echo: Teleporter
Type and tier: Item, tier 1
What is returned: A giant box filled with dominoes. Because why not!

Character: Isaac and Miria
Reason for Echo: One of those Lights over London
Type and tier: Tier 2, Memories.
What is returned: Remembering the context of running over an old man: he's pretty shitty and an abusive parent to their friend Ennis. Furthermore, how the old man was defeated: being absorbed into another immortal's body just from placing a right hand on his head.
