Echo Requests

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

As of November 2014, Characters who have had their echoes for over a year can cause echoes in other people This is involuntary, cannot be controlled by either character and doesn't require a recurrence. The receiving character must have 15 echoes or less; they must be physically close to the other character; only tier 1 echoes can be caused that way; one cannot give themselves echoes. Both players must, of course, have consented to this oocly. A character can receive echoes through this mechanic no more than 10 times, and only up to 3 times from the same character. If requesting one of these echoes, please indicate the character from which the echo was received.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger, a person or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

THIS IS MOSTLY AESTHETICS so just the wings, yeah. A complete biology overhaul would affect lifespan and stuff of that nature so that's definitely going to take a... while... and various echoes.

SORRY FOR BEING UNCLEAR that's my bad

Player: Katie
Character: Belphegor of Sloth // Belle Goldman
Reason for Echo: Attempting to aid a badly-injured deer that has dragged itself into the brush by the apartment parking lot.
What is returned: A fractured collage of memory about killing from a stake's point of view that begins when some of the deer's blood gets on her hands, and barrages her all the while she is trying to calm the animal down.
evowhisperer: (Every day I'm science-in')

[personal profile] evowhisperer 2014-05-20 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Zalein
Character: Cesar
Reason for Echo: Canon parallel echo! In canon, Caesar was familiar with nanites from a relatively young age. Reincarnated Cesar has only heard of them in passing and in popular media, so buying his first book on actual current nanomaterials and the basics of known nanotechnology is a significant divergence from the norm, and also a significant reminder of what he used to be in constant contact with.
Type and tier: Mental, Tier One.
What is returned: In canon, nanites were his and his family's life's work and passion. When he learns about them now he'll be inspired, and regain a moderate fraction of his past self's voracious appetite for learning and creating.

Player: Blue
Character: William Black (Walter Beck)
Reason for Echo: Hearing Karl Aurion tell a tale.
Type and tier: Tier 1 - Mental.
What is returned: With the last two lines, he'll remember the story of what happened at the top of the Tattered Spire - a tower built to channel all the world's magic into granting a single wish per activation via gathering of master Heroes - near the end of the Hero-Queen's adventure before the start of her rule: she defeated its re-constructor, the insane nobleman Lucien Fairfax, essentially took his wish, and used it to wish the thousands whose deaths he brought on to rebuild it back to life.

Player: Kd7sov
Character: Felix/Fred Vandenberg
Reason for Echo: Recurrence: Giant tree + (human-caused) withering
In canon, there is a b-plot involving a giant tree named Tret, considered "the Holy Tree". A noblewoman's greed means woodcutters try to cut Tret down, but he develops magic powers and turns a bunch of people into trees. It then transpires that he's about to die, possibly because of the aforementioned cutting, and that if he does his forest (Kolima) and the tree-ified people will die with him. Felix was not directly involved in these events, but it seems likely to me that the party members who were would have talked about them with him at some point; if nothing else, the sequel indicates another uninvolved character who traveled with Felix had at least some of the story.
Type and tier: 1, memory
What is returned: The names Tret and Kolima Forest
