Echo Requests

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

As of November 2014, Characters who have had their echoes for over a year can cause echoes in other people This is involuntary, cannot be controlled by either character and doesn't require a recurrence. The receiving character must have 15 echoes or less; they must be physically close to the other character; only tier 1 echoes can be caused that way; one cannot give themselves echoes. Both players must, of course, have consented to this oocly. A character can receive echoes through this mechanic no more than 10 times, and only up to 3 times from the same character. If requesting one of these echoes, please indicate the character from which the echo was received.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger, a person or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

peacefulwinter: (I swear it's true!)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2014-10-14 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Player: MaxSalsa
Character: Winter Adamas | Rikka Hishikawa
Reason for Echo: Pink lights over Neuschwanstein.
Type and tier: Tier 1: Mental
What is returned: Rikka's Japanese sensibilities, along with fluency in Japanese. Winter was studying it anyway, this just gives her the rest of it. She'll be able to read, write, and speak the language, though sadly her handwriting in kanji will be atrocious from never having used it before. She'll also find herself with little automatic habits, like taking off her shoes at the door where she wouldn't have before, or having to actively suppress herself from being overly polite to anyone that isn't Lily or one of her good friends, even in English. There are some little things that will be lost in translation and discarded, but mostly she'll just carry herself a little more like the Japanese schoolgirl she's reincarnated from.

Reason for Echo: (Horribly late!) Refined Shell proximity Echo.
Type and tier: Tier 2 (free): Item + Ability
What is regained: The Loveads that triggers Diamond Swirkle, though Winter doesn't know that, and the teleportation function of her aiPad (her Magical Lovely Pad, but hell if I'm going to keep typing that, it's so long and the other name is catchy). Diamond Swirkle is a attack that hits at range; Cure Diamond sets the Loveads in the aiPad and waves her hand over it, and the enemy she's trying to hit is surrounded with a blast of cold water from under it, and spun. The result is a dazed, soaked, and possibly frozen enemy. As for the teleportation function, it normally requires Ai-chan to unlock, but once it's available it can be freely used. The trigger is an app on the device that brings up a dirty mirror; think of a place, then wipe your hand across the screen, and when the mirror clears, you're whisked away in an instant. Simple, right? While it could theoretically take her anywhere - it's carried her between worlds before - it will, of course, be useless outside an Echo barrier, so realistically it'll just take her to places inside barriers that she has a clear, specific image of. No Loveads required, either. Isn't magitechnology great?

Character: Kevin Steele | Chrono Harlaown
Reason for Echo: Pink lights over Neuschwanstein.
Type and tier: Tier 2 (October): Ability + Ability?
What is returned: A blanket increase in Kevin's magical abilities, effectively returning several years of Enforcer training; normally this would also give him some physical training, but Kevin is fairly good in that respect, thanks to being an agent. His power will increase just a little, which has only a minimal effect, but his control will improve dramatically, not that he's used anything yet to get a feel for that. He'll also regain Chrono's flight spell, which is unfortunately unnamed. Magical flight for the average mage is... special. It ignores the laws of physics and lets a person hover, turn on a time, and fly fairly quickly. Some characters specialize in acrobatics, stability, or speed; Fate can break the sound barrier in certain flight modes. Chrono focuses on well-controlled flight, and that's what Kevin gets back. It's low-maintenance in terms of power, and while it requires a fair amount of control and focus, the other half of the Echo will return that, so it's no big deal. If he doesn't need to pretend to be normal, flight is probably the easiest way for Kevin to get around; it's faster than a car if he's not doing anything else, and it has a lower footprint - no need to own something, find a parking space, or fill up with gas. Just, uh, better not fall - it's a long way down, and Kevin doesn't (yet) have a Barrier Jacket to absorb the shock.
