Echo Requests (retired)

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

As of September 2013, Tier 2 Echoes can be granted once a month per character. Take care to specify the limitations and/or level of detail to the Echo requested! If you are unsure, suggestions will be gladly offered.

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it within Locke City, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a jug of milk from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.
Type and tier: Physical change, power/ability, mental/memory, or item/creature. Tier 1 are the regular Echoes, and are typically a single memory/ability/item/etc. Tier 2 are essentially two regular Echoes rolled into one, such as an item and a memory or ability associated with it, or two directly-related memories, or so on. Currently only one Tier 2 Echo is allowed per month, so please be sure to note them somehow on your info posts.
What is returned: In the case of canon recurrences, these must be directly related to what has caused the Echo. Stronger recurrences = stronger Echoes.

Player: Blue
Character: Sho Minamimoto
Reason for Echo: Brush with the Vermedi and infected bats in the mines.
What is returned: The sensation of being killed; to become a Reaper, one must become a ghost, and to become a ghost, one must die. However his cause of death is never canonically alluded to.
acequeen: (Q-1)

[personal profile] acequeen 2013-06-16 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Pam
Character: Kallen Kouzuki/Regina Akamine
Reason for Echo: Meeting the sage
What is returned: A vision of the wounded and dead Japanese civilians at Shinjuku Ghetto, with some quick flashes of Knightmare Frames and ruined buildings. It has no context.

Reason for Echo: Fighting the Vermedi
What is returned: Some physical strength/reflexes that she once had back when she was a soldier/mecha pilot for a few years in her past life, which is completely different to the normal capabilities she has now. Basically, this echo enables her to be efficient in blocking and landing punches/kicks, making her self-defense skills a bit stronger than before.

It's not up to 100% in full strength, though, just to make things fair. Maybe 25-50%? Whichever you think is okay!

[personal profile] espigeonage 2013-06-16 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Joysweeper
Character: Julien/Yuuya
Reason for Echo: Contact with a cave nasty
What is returned: A pigeon heart. ...Scaled up to fit his body, so he doesn't die. And I guess relevant vein and artery alterations so different pressures and so on don't cause complicated medical issues. Still pumping human blood, though.

Proportionally a pigeon's heart is more than twice the mass of a human's, more muscular, designed somewhat differently. It's more efficient, pumping more blood per beat, and it's slower at a resting rate, but better at beating faster for a long period of time.

[personal profile] testsonseashells 2013-06-16 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: G-man
Character: Mordin Solus
Reason for Echo: Sage of Earth encounter
What is returned: Salarian biological/medical knowledge - Mordin will suddenly be aware of an alien species called salarians, and will know their biology as well as he did in his previous incarnation.
fatherssins: (OOC)

[personal profile] fatherssins 2013-06-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Helen
Character: Adrian / Alucard
Reason for Echo: Seeing the Earth Sage
What is returned: Physical Echo: Either through combat (e.g. being hit in the mouth) or simply by force his canine teeth fall out (mmm, attractive!) and pointed teeth grow back (relatively quickly) to replace them. He will probably assume they were baby teeth that never fell out until more of his history comes into play.

Player: kou!
Character: banagher links!
Reason for Echo: meeting the sage!
What is returned: he already has his newtype ability (and i got former permission to have it develop slowly without further echoes) but i think this is major enough to warrant one. he'll get back the extremely heightened spacial awareness aspect of the ability -- it'll still work in the same way, being able to read the intent of an action rather than the physical action itself. in canon he was not only able to tell that he was going to be attacked, but when asked what was attacking, he was able to narrow it down to one mobile suit and another formation behind it, before it'd even pulled on his own suit's sensors or become visible to naked eye.

Reason for Echo: canon recurrence by being trapped in the mine!
What is returned: the memory of all his classmates being incinerated by one of these babies after they had gotten trapped inside their home space colony when war broke out. he was trying to find a way to safety before the robot forcibly blasted through the locked bay entrance to gain access to the colony.

Character: Felix/Fred Vandenberg
Reason for Echo: The Sage
What is returned: Spire, aka the drop-a-rock-on-it spell. As I mentioned when I jumped the gun, this canonically looks like a man-sized lump; I'm willing to tone it down, but I leave how much to your discretion.

Player: Anduin
Character: Kallie
Reason for Echo: Hearing the Sage speak via the network.
What is returned: Rounding out this, in that she will finally be able to fully summon her XIII-2 gladius gunblade to her with enough effort. Included are even more magic feathers, but even though it will disappear again if separated from her for too long, she can't willingly dismiss it. Also, it'll still be stuck in the default sword form... and she will have neither the strength nor the skill/knowledge to properly utilize it yet.

Whoops.

Player: Misty
Character: Toushirou Hitsugaya
Reason for Echo: Fighting the Vermedi
What is returned: A weak version of shunpo. He'll only be able to cover a distance of five feet, and will need to wait at least two minutes before he can do another one. Additionally, since he's in no way used to moving this fast, he'll wind up with motion sickness after even a single use.
reapsthewind: (Default)

[personal profile] reapsthewind 2013-06-17 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Player: TealDeer
Character: Chris Starsky / Starscream
Reason for Echo: A number (!) of possessed bats are going to bite down on her arms.
What is returned: Starscream's laser canons. This is complicated to make work (argh Teal, y u always ask for complicated Echoes) so it comes with a few caveats:

> This will cause her arms from the shoulder down to become robot arms. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for her to just be able to shoot lasers from her squishy human fingers without the appropriate subsystems in place. She won't be any stronger than she is now with these, and in fact for a few weeks she'll be significantly clumsier at delicate tasks

> Because the lasers require energon to work, she's ONLY going to have enough power to get through this cave event. after the cave event is over she won't be able to fire them unless she somehow gets energon. the guns/arms will be there, of course, but they won't have enough juice to fire. The arms can pull off her natural bioelectricity well enough that her arms will work, just no laser canons until she learns how to create energon again (which won't be for a while)

> too bad so sad chris, while you are a robot in disguise, you don't have a Transformation Cog yet, so those robot arms will STAY robot arms. time for long sleeves and gloves in summertime.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS FEELS LIKE TWO ECHOES. If you guys feel that this is way too much, I'd like to propose that I retcon my last Echo (which was to give her back some of Starscream's scientific knowledge) and just roll both of them into one echo (So she got robot arms in a delayed fashion from meeting the Sage, and the lasers from the bats) if that works for you. She hasn't used that knowledge at all yet, so it wouldn't really change anything.

Player: Mini
Character: Alexander Varista
Reason for Echo: (1) Meeting the Sage and (2) bat-trap.
What is returned:
(1) An additional 25% of his regenerative ability.
(2) Hypnotism. From his app:
He is able to put a person or an animal in a trance. While in the trance, he can make simple demands, like retrieving the newspaper from outside. He cannot make complicated demands, like filling out the crossword section. Depending on the person, some actions may or may not constitute as complicated. For example, someone who is comfortable with driving will drive under his order, but someone who is still learning will not because there’s more thought that goes into the action for them.

He must make eye contact to hypnotize someone/something.

Player: Kd7sov
Character: Fluttershy/Sarah Makinen
Reason for Echo: Watching the Sage via network
What is returned: The memory of facing a dragon; specifically, this clip, from about 0:18 to about 1:16. This would not include any sense of being pony-shaped, nor visuals of the other ponies.

[personal profile] wastingtime 2013-06-17 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Mindy
Character: Elian Price
Reason for Echo: Hearing the Sage speak via Emmanuel's post.
What is returned: Physical. Elian will receive a Cyber Planet Key (the one in the bottom center), which was basically the gimmick from the toy line he was introduced in. THAT SAID it will be about the size it is IRL - only slightly bigger than an SD card. And while it won't be made of plastic, it will be about as useful. No powers, though it will be warm to the touch.
I'm aware this wasn't mentioned in the application, and am fine with it being denied on the basis of such. If that's the case, I'd like to ask for something else, but will need a bit to think on it. This just seemed to jive best with the situation.

Reason for Echo: Loved ones in danger and him helpless to do anything? Christobel isn't a Minicon, but she is family. That whole cavein thing will make him anything but happy, and give him the same sinking horror that he felt in that other life, that he's lost someone who needed him.
What is returned: SO JUST AFTER THE AFOREMENTIONED EVENT IN HIS OTHER LIFE Elian Vector this guy went back through time to fix that. While I do not want that to happen now (dear god no), I'm thinking it's justification for something that will lead up to that, though. Which is basically his internal clock solidifying itself, and being just as if not more accurate as an atomic clock.

[personal profile] playmisere 2013-06-17 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Yubi
Character: PM/Pandora Masse
Reason for Echo: Watching the Sage on the network
What is returned: A bit of carapace programming, specifically some of the game lore - something like: "...a realm of Warring Royalty in a Timeless Expanse. A realm of Agents and Exiles and Consorts and Kernelsprites. Of toiling Underlings and slumbering Denizens. A realm where four will gather, the Heir of Breath and Seer of Light, the Knight of Time and Witch of Space, and together they will Ascend." There's also some mention of the sleeping Princes and Princesses of the Moon.

Imagine the kind of stuff NPCs blither on about in RPGs, because this is exactly what this is.

edit: By "programming" I basically mean she'll simply "know" all this, without quite having an associated memory of hearing the lore from somebody.

Player: Alec
Character: Shou Chinen
Reason for Echo: Watching the Sage speak over the Network
What is returned: Item
A black and white leather jacket that has a few bullet holes on the one side (as if someone had shot at it while it was waving in the air) and is just a little snug across the chest.

Reason for Echo: Friends in danger and he being unable to save them right away even if it's not a group of gangsters shooting a friend that was trying to protect another friend. It's still brings to mind the same feeling of helplessness and loss.
What is returned: Physical
Bullet scar - Sho lived a hard life and had several scars from the gun fights he got into, but the largest one is the bullet wound from when his brother-in-law shot (and killed) him. It hit the lung and is kind of wound that he shouldn't have survived without having immediate medical attention.

What is returned: Part of Ichigo's uncanny ability to learn new techniques fast. It's not Gary Stu gamebreaking superhuman fast yet, but it's not limited to fighting techniques. (there's also another scene where he throws it very accurately into someone's chest, but would that kind of thing count as a separate skill from close combat?)

controlsdesire: (that's the right attitude.)

[personal profile] controlsdesire 2013-06-18 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Knight
Character: Shuji Kiyokumi / Eiji Hino

Reason for Echo: A comment made by Kousei Kougami about reaching out his hand to someone. This is a heavily recurring theme in canon and something Eiji spends a great deal of time coping with. In the final episode, Eiji has a vision of Ankh saying, "I am no longer the hand you should be reaching for." This medal is what was left behind after Ankh's death, where it had previously contained the Greeed's consciousness.
What is returned: Ankh's Broken Core Medal.

Reason for Echo: Watching the Sage livestream and hearing him speak.
What is returned: A Taka Candroid.

Reason for Echo: Seeing everything go down during the Sage meeting. It mirrors a situation from Eiji's early life where he was unable to save a young girl's life because he couldn't reach her in time. As a large theme in the series is Eiji's desire for power to be able to help people and this is a mirror of that feeling of helplessness...
What is returned: Ptera Medal (on the left) much in the same way as the Tyranno Medal was returned in my previous request. The medal will remain on the inside of his body for now.

(God help me, I am so far behind.)
